Edna Koontz Dies in Calif.
Edna Lucille Willson Koontz, 69, was found dead, October 30, in her winter home in Cayucos, Calif. as a result of an asthma attack.
Funeral services were held Monday, at St. George's Episcopal Church in Lusk, with the Rev. Theodore Foster officiating. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.
Mrs. J. P. Watson was organist. Mrs. Mary Anne Griffith and Mrs. Joan Berry sang, "High Over the Lonely Hills" and "Abide with Me".
Pallbearers were Cliff Parmely, James Barrett, Melvin Nelson, Bernard Thon, Beryl Fullerton and James Griffith Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were: L. J. Bass, William Nuttall, Lee Stoddard, O. M. Rasmussen, Roy Johnson and William Miller.
Mrs. Koontz was born at the Running Water Ranch west of Lusk, February 2, 1894. She attended elementary school in Manville. Higher education was attained when she attended schools in Salem, Mass. and Atlanta, Ga. She worked for U.S. Land Commissioner Goddard in Lusk and was also employed by the Union Oil Company in Wyoming and Fort Collins, Colo.
She and her husband, the late Harry H. Koontz, were engaged in ranching in Niobrara until his death. She was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, Eastern Star and the Pioneer Association of Wyoming.
She is survived by three brothers; Eugene of Lusk, Frederick of Houston and Kenneth of Carmel, Calif.
