Clifford Amundsen, South Sioux Farmer Dies Unexpectedly

Clifford Amundsen, 52, of Route 1, Morrill, died suddenly at a Scottsbluff hospital Tuesday morning. He had become ill at his home.

He was born December 28, 1915, in Sioux County and had spent his entire life farming in the county except for the three years in the army during World War II. He entered the service in December of 1941, served in the South Pacific and was discharged in December of 1944.

He was married to Margaret Davis August 20, 1944 at Torrington, Wyo. He was a member of the Powell-Lewis American Legion Post 10 of Morrill.

Survivors include his widow; two sons, Clifford A., a student at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, and Jerry A. of Denver; a daughter, Nancy, at home; his mother, Mrs. Gertrude Amundsen of Mitchell; and one grandson.

His father and a daughter, Patricia, died previously.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the First United Methodist Church in Morrill with Rev. Roger Casteel officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Morrill.

Mrs. Frank Schleff, organist, accompanied soloist, Leo Kuxhausen, as he sang "In The Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset." Casket bearers were Alex Buchhammer, Ralph Averill, Wayne Perkins, Jim Darnell Jr., Walter Deines, and Dale Flock.

Attending the services from the Harrison community were Mrs. John Engebretsen, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Marquis Hughson, and Chet Mansfield of Crawford; and Mr. and Mrs. Roy ZumBrunnen and Mrs. John Hammond of rural Niobrara County, Wyo.

A memorial has been established to the Heart Fund.
