Service for Oliver Allbright

Memorial service for Oliver Allen Allbright, 72, long-time Lusk resident was held at Peet Mortuary Chapel Tuesday, January 4. The Rev. Royce Clayton Crosby officiated. Allbright died January 1 in the Niobrara Nursing Home following a long illness.

Oliver Allen Allbright was born September 10, 1910, at Broken Bow, Neb., the son of William and Jennie Allbright. He and Ida Mae Robertson were married in Broken Bow on April 25, 1933. The Allbrights, with there sons Orville and Harold, moved to the west coast n the early 1940's. A carpenter by trade, Allbright worked as a foreman at Swan Island Ship Yard, Portland, Ore., during World War II.

Allbright and Grace "Babe" Myers were married and moved to Lusk in 1952. In Lusk he was employed for nearly 15 years by Charles and Ruby Christian until his lower back was crushed in a fall. During his years here, Allbright also worked for Norm and Cathy Brillhart. Oliver and Babe Allbright were the parents of one child, Allen Marvin. Allbright was also the stepfather for four children, Carolyn, Jacqueline, Gerald and Dale Myers.

Pallbearers were Kester Akers, Vern Modine, Alvin Titchener, Charles Smith, Willy Wilcox and Dave Leimser. Honorary bearers were all his friends and neighbors. Music played during the service was "Beyond the Sunset" and "In the Garden."

Allbright was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Eunice and Mae, a stepson Gerald and his youngest son Allen. He is survived by his wife Babe, son Harold, and stepson Dale, all of Lusk; his son Orville of Wheatland; two sisters and two stepdaughters, Springfield, Ore.; 32 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Interment was in Lusk Cemetery.

The Social Security Index indicates his birth date on September 2, 1910, which matches the gravestone information.
