Husband of Former Lusk Girl Killed in South Vietnam

Wendell L. Hestead, formerly of Torrington, was killed in Vietnam, March 9. A civilian, he had been working for Pacific Architect and Engineers in the Saigon area for the past 30 months. The cause of his death is not known here.

He married Gail Riley in Lusk on July 2, 1961. They were the parents of one son Clayton and two daughters, Shannon Rae and Dani Carol.

They lived in Idaho and Oregon until he went overseas in 1966.

Survivors include his widow and the three children of Burley, Ida.; his mother, Mrs. Ellen Hestead of Torrington; one sister, Mrs. Jake Kerns of Henry, Nebr.; one brother, Kenneth Hestead of Burley.

Burial will be in the Torrington cemetery pending the arrival of the body from Saigon.

Mrs. Riley is the daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Ray Riley, formerly of Lusk and now of Rose Bud, Ark. She is a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Riley of Lusk.

Mrs. Hestead and her children, accompanied by her mother, spent several days in Lusk at the Glen Riley home. They returned to Torrington Sunday.
