Robert Grimm is Killed as pickup overturns

Robert L. Grimm, 44, was killed Wednesday night in a one-vehicle accident 28.2 miles north of Crawford on Highway 71 just over the South Dakota line. He was traveling alone in a pickup from Crawford to the Jack Geiser ranch to pick up his son Joe.

State troopers Dale McCroden and Don Keiper investigated the accident and said he was northbound on Highway 71 and was unable to make a curve. His pickup went across the road, into a ditch and rolled one and one-half times, coming to rest on its top. Monday the patrol reported the accident occurred just over the state line.

Funeral service was held Saturday morning at the Church of the Nativity at Harrison. Father J. F. Hargarten officiated. Rosary was said at St. John's Catholic Church at Crawford Friday evening. Burial was in the Catholic Cemetery at Harrison.

Mr. Grimm was born at Harrison August 9, 1931, the youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. William Grimm. He attended school in Sioux County and graduated from Sioux County High School with the class of 1949. He married Mary Ellen Eberspecher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Eberspecher, June 7, 1950 at Montrose, Neb., and they were the parents of four children.

He spent his life ranching in Sioux County and was a member of the Catholic congregation at Harrison and the Elks Lodge #1399 at Chadron. He served as president of School District 7.

Survivors include his widow, Mary; children Tom, Alan, Joe and Rita; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Crystal Grimm; his mother, Catherine, one brother, Bill; two sisters, Bonnie Myers of Omaha and Jean Sieck of Lincoln.
