Orpha L. Geike

Funeral services for Orpha L. Geike, age 91, were held Saturday, May 21, 1994, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Harrison, Neb., with Rev. Harold King of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lusk officiating. Burial will follow in the Harrison City Cemetery.

Mrs. Geike died Wednesday morning, May 18, at the Niobrara County Nursing Home in Lusk. She was born May 20, 1902, near Adams, Neb., the daughter of Fred and Sophia Keebler. She received her early education in rural schools near Adams and graduated from Adams High School. She also attended one term at Peru State Normal School at Peru, Neb. She moved to Harrison, Neb., in 1924 and taught one term of school near Harrison.

She married Henry Geike in 1925. They lived on a ranch north of Harrison until 1952 when they moved to a farm near Sterling, Neb. In 1962 they moved to Lusk, Wyo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Henry in 1970, a son Herbert, one granddaughter Audrey Long, two sisters, Ruby Hiltz and Vesta Werner.

Survivors include her three children; Wendell of Lusk, Vesta Hutchison of Dubois, Wyo., and Howard of Edgerton; a daughter-in-law, Ruby Geike of Harrison, Neb.; twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; one brother, Archie Keebler of Sterling, Neb., plus numerous other relatives and friends.

Orpha was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church at Harrison and was confirmed there on May 22, 1937.

For those who wish, memorials to the Senior Center in Lusk will be appreciated by the family.
