Floyd Immesoete Opens Greenhouse in Lusk
For a number of years Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Immesoete have been working and planning for a business of their own. Now they have that business and Lusk Has a greenhouse.
Having lived at Lance Creek for a number of years and being interested in gardening, they saw the need of a greenhouse in Lusk, and In April of 1946 bought the Land across from the town light plant and started to build.
A home as well as a business had to be established and with the shortage of help and materials it proved to be quite a problem as well as much hard work. Mr. Immesoete has continued to work at Lance Creek five days a week and did most of the construction on the two remaining days. He still has a years' work to get the greenhouse in final shape . One thing he has discovered that a large boiler will be necessary to heat both house and greenhouse.
Heating is done with hot water through pipe coils about the greenhouse. This type of heating is considered best for growing plants. The heating plant is thermostatically controlled to keep the heat at an even temperature.

The best materials obtainable were used in the greenhouse construction. Every piece of wood and other parts were first painted two coats before construction and then joints painted again afterward. Special pliable putty holds the glass panes tin place and assured a weather-tight hot house.
Moderat temperature plants are being grown and this the night temperature of the greenhouse is held at 45 degrees. Soil testing equipment has been installed to avoid delay in determining the amount of fertilizer and kind necessary to supplement the soil for best growing conditions for each plant, and all soil used will be tested.
The last three week-ends Mr. Immesoete has spent in Scottsbluff obtaining last-minute needs and materials for opening his business. A good supply of potted plants will be on hand at all times. In addition, vegetable and bedding plants will be available to meet every gardener's needs this spring, Mr. Immesoete says.
