Ed Hollon Opens Cement Block Plant in Lusk

A new industry for Lusk was started last week when Ed Hollon began operation of his cement products plant a block south and two blocks west of the Grade School.

The production building has already been erected and a drying room is now being constructed over a newly installed boiler. Sufficient blocks have already been made to erect this drying room and Mr. Hollon expects to get into full production soon, which will turn out 600 blocks a day.

The sand is being hauled by Athel Pearce from Orin. Mr. Pearce has just installed a screener there and expects to make two trips a day.

The new business will employ three men besides Mr. Hollon. When more moulds are available Mr. Hollon expects to make concrete drainage and sewer pipe, as well as cement blocks.

Local demand is ecpected to take all the blocks that can be made for some time.

Hollon Brothers to Erect Complete Lumber Yard Here

Jerry and Eddie Hollon, proprietors of the Hollon Cement and Forest Products, made known this week their plans to construct a complete lumber yard which they hope to have ready by early May.

The yard will be erected near their present lumber and cement block plant in southeast Lusk. At present they have an 18x60 foot lumber shed, and to this will be added a 60x22 foot sales room and warehouse.

This building will front on oak street, and will add considerably to the business these two veterans of World War II have established.

Meanwhile they are also expanding their their cement block and lumber treating and planing business.
