Shatto Brianna Scott, daughter of Stephanie Sue Scott of Lusk, greeted the world at 12:37 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 1, 1987. She tipped the scales at an even seven pounds and was 19-3/4 inches long when born at Niobrara Memorial hospital.
As the first baby of 1987, Shatto and her mother will be showered with gifts from 14 local businesses participating in The Lusk Herald's "1st Baby Contest."
Shatto Brianna Scott's grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Gary Scott of Lusk, Martha Thompson is a great-grandmother.
She is the second New Year's baby born into the Scott family. Davi Cass Himes, daughter of David and Chris Himes, was Niobrara County's first baby of 1983. She will celebrate her fourth birthday on Jan. 14, 1987.
