The Friends of the Library Annual Book Sale and Ice Cream Social will be held on Saturday, June 23 – there are lots and lots of good books to choose from so be sure to stop by. The Ice Cream Social begins at 11 a.m. and homemade cakes of every variety will be available, proceeds from both of these events benefit the library in many ways.
Thursday afternoon movies continue – this week “Cars” will be shown and the “Bridge to Terabithia” is on tap for June 28.
The final “Snapshots of Society” film will be shown on Wednesday, June 27 at 6 p.m. “When a Man Loves a Woman” is the story of an airline pilot and his wife who are forced to face the consequences of her alcoholism when her addictions threaten her life and their daughter’s safety. While the woman enters detox, her husband must face the truth of his enabling behavior. Strength and commitment unfold as a determined family embarks on a courageous battle. This film stars Andy Garcia, Meg Ryan and Ellen Burstyn. A light meal will be served and discussion will include participants from the Wyoming Women’s Center.
New for adults is “Free Fire” by C. J. Box. In this newest mystery, former Game Warden, Joe Pickett, returns to investigate a murder in the wilds of Yellowstone Park. Other new fiction titles include “Dragons of the Dwarven Depths” by Margaret Weis, “Simple Gifts” by Lori Copeland, “Invisible Prey” by John Sandford, “The Chrysalis” by Heather Terrell and “Strike Force” by Dale Brown.
New non-fiction titles are “The Blood Pressure Cure: 8 Weeks to Lower Blood Pressure Without Prescription Drugs” by Robert E. Kowalaski, “The Horse That God Built: the Untold Story of Secretariat, the World’s Greatest Race Horse” by Lawrence Scanlan and “Parties, Potlucks, & Barbecues” edited by Janet Briggs.
New titles for our young adults are “Born to Rock” by Gordon Korman and “Lady Friday” by Garth Nix.
New books in the Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library include these chapter books “Pony-Crazed Princess Ellie Series” by Diana Kimpton along with these “Star Wars: the Last of the Jedi” titles: “Return of the Dark Side” and “A Tangled Web” by Jude Watson. New picture books are “Colorful Spring” by Erin Moran, “Here Comes T. Rex Cottontail” by Lois G. Grambling and “I Saw an Ant in the Parking Lot” by Joshua Prince.
“Happy Birthday, U. S. A.!” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 and Thursday, June 28, 2007. Storyhour is now held every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 to 11 p.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten.
