We are finishing our four-book Wyoming Council for the Humanities Book Discussion series this month. Watch for a new series of three books beginning in January. Yvonne is also busy planning the next session of afterschool programs for children in the first through fifth grades. These sessions will be held during January and February.

A new fiction book for adults is “The Gift” by Richard Paul Evans. Nathan Hurst is stranded at an airport just before Thanksgiving with a woman and her two children. To his surprise, he finds himself mysteriously cured of his Tourette’s syndrome by the son’s touch. Other new fiction titles include “The Edge of Darkness” by Tim LaHaye, “Bygones” by Kim Vogel Sawyer, “A Sister’s Secret” by Wanda E. Brunstetter,
“Finding Father Christmas” by Robin Jones and “Redemption Falls” by Joseph O’Connor.
New adult non-fiction books are “For Parent’s Only: Getting Inside the Head of Your Kid” by Shaunti Feldhahn, “Good Calories, Bad Calories: Challenging the Conventional Wisdom on Diet, Weight Control, and Disease” by Gary Taubes and “Inside the Mind of BTK: the True Story Behind the Thirty-Year Hunt for the Notorious Wichita Serial Killer” by John Douglas.
New titles for the young adults are “My Mother the Cheerleader” by Robert Sharenow and “Seeing Redd” by Frank Beddor.
The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new chapter books “The Circus Scare” by Carolyn Keene, “The Name of This Book is Secret” by Pseudonymous Bosch, “The Castle Corona” by Sharon Creech and “Princess Ellie Takes Charge” by Diana Kimpton. New picture books are “The Mighty Pigeon Club” by Daniel San Souci, “A Mountain of Mittens” by Lynn Plourde, “Fred Stays With Me” by Nancy Coffelt and “The Pen That Pa Built” by David Edwards.
“Christmas Wishes” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, December 11 and Thursday, December 13. Storyhour is held every Tuesday and/or Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten.
