96 children and adults attended the Cody Landstrom Magic Show last week. The Friends of the Library provided root beer floats and complimentary books for all of the children. Several in attendance went home with new magic tricks to fool their friends and family. Thank you to the Friends for sponsoring great programs such as this!
A new fiction book for adults is “One of Those Malibu Nights” by Elizabeth Adler. Mac Reilly, a private detective, barely escapes a bullet fired by a woman wearing only a black negligee. Then the woman disappears – and her gun is found in Mac’s car. Next, Allie Ray, star of the big screen and America’s sweetheart goes missing. The two women are connected and Mac seeks the help of Sunny Alvarez to get to the bottom of it all.
Other new fiction books are “Killer View” by Ridley Pearson, “Last Kiss” by Luanne Rice, “Moscow Rules” by Daniel Silva, “Silent Thunder” by Iris Johansen, “Say Goodbye” by Lisa Gardner and “The Broken Gun” by Louis L’Amour.
New adult non-fiction books are “Moving Forward: Taking the Lead in Your Life” by Dave Pelzer and “The Family Book: Amazing Things to Do Together” edited by Philippa Wingate.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior books, “Adventure in Africa” by Connie Lee Berry, “The Clue at the Bottom of the Lake” by Kristina Gregory and “The Awful Pawful” by Darrel Odgers. New picture books are “You Can’t Go to School Naked” by Diane Billstrom, “Horrible Harry Takes the Cake” by Suzy Kline and “Snoops in the Attic: Curious Kate” by Pat Stark.
“Hats Off!” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 and Thursday, September 11, 2008.
Storyhour is held each Tuesday and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten throughout the year.
