June Willson Read will present “Pages from the Past: Stories from Niobrara County Homesteaders” on Wednesday, August 19 at the library at 6 p.m. Read was raised in Niobrara County and conducted interviews that were originally published in the Lusk Herald in 1951. The interviews are the subject of her program and will also feature early history of the area. Author of “Frontier Madam: the life of Dell Burke, Lady of Lusk” Read resides in North Carolina and Jay Em. Copies of “Pages from the Past” are available for purchase at the Stagecoach Museum. The Friends of the Library will host Eric West with a musical performance as a Back-to-School celebration on Wednesday, August 26. This musical extravaganza is suitable for the entire family and will be held on the library lawn at 6:30 p.m. Children will each receive their very own book to start the new school year off with. Refreshments will also be served.
Stephanie Plum is back in “Finger Lickin’ Fifteen” by Janet Evanovich. Celebrity chef Stanley Chipotle comes to Trenton to participate in a barbecue cook-off and loses his head – literally. Bail bonds office worker Lulu is a witness to the crime and recruits bounty hunter Stephanie Plum to help her find the killers and collect the million dollar reward being offered by Chipotle’s sponsor.

“When the Bough Breaks” by Kay Lynn Magnum and “The Soldiers of Halla” by D. J. MacHale are new in the young adult section.
The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new titles “Sienna the Saturday Fairy” by Daisy Meadows, “Moon Runner” by Mark Thomason and “The Dark Planet” by Patrick Darman. New picture books include “Disney
Princess” by Julia Lobo, “Farmer Joe and the Music Show” by Tony Mitton and “Roawr!” by Barbara Joose.
“Friends” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, August 18 and Thursday, August 20. Storyhour is held on Tuesday and Thursday throughout the year from from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten.
