The final Around Wyoming film, “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” will be shown on Monday, December 14 at 6 p.m. A light meal will be served and discussion will be facilitated by Deane Tucker, Chadron State College Professor of Humanities. Cable worker, Roy Neary, who along with several other stunned bystanders experience a close encounter of the first kind – witnessing UFOs soaring across the sky. Neary has a strange vision and becomes obsessed, much to the dismay of his wife and family. Meanwhile bizarre occurrences are happening around the world. Roy continues to chase his vision to a remote area where he and government agents will have a close encounter of the third kind – contact. The film is rated PG and is approximately 135 minutes. Just in time for the holidays is Garrison Keillor’s newest book is “A Christmas Blizzard.” This is a wry, witty story about an unhappy traveler. He had plans to go to Hawaii for Christmas, but then he is summoned to North Dakota because of an ailing aunt. He arrives in time to get trapped by a blizzard without any electricity and finds himself on a journey of rediscovery. Be sure to check out all of the holiday books!
