This November the library will host two documentary films that tie in with the food series that has been featured this fall. On Wednesday, November 9 the film, “Forks Over Knives” will be shown at 6 p.m. This film, facilitated by Cathy Fliris, FNP, examines the profound claim that most, if not all, of the so called “diseases of affluence” that afflict us can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting our present menu of animal-based and processed foods. Often considered radical, this film will be sure to spark a thoughtful discussion. A light meal will be served and the film is rated PG and 96 minutes. The next documentary will be “Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead” on November 16.
Jacquelyn Mitchard’s newest novel is “Second Nature.” Sicily Coyne was thirteen when her father was killed in a school fire that also left her with her face disfigured. Now a secret has surfaced that shatters her carefully constructed world and makes her agree to a radical procedure on her face. Her beauty restored, she rushes toward life with open arms but she soon discovers that her new face carries with it risks that no one could have imagined – she is confronting a moral and medical crisis that quickly becomes a matter of life and death.
Other new fiction books include “The Race” by Clive Cussler, “Fall From Pride” by Karen Harper, “American Boy” by Larry Watson, “A Question of Despair” by Maureen Carter, “Horses of Another Color” by Billy Wilcoxson, “Saint’s Gate” by Carla Neggers, “Dick Francis’s Gamble” by Felix Francis and “Heartwishes” by Jude Deveraux.
