“Everything Dragons” is the theme for three Reading Is Fundamental programs to be held at the library this winter for children preschool age through 6th grade. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, the first program will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25 at the library. Each child will be able to choose a book of their very own to take home with them and will also enjoy stories, crafts, activities and snacks. Reading Is Fundamental, Inc. (RIF), founded in 1966, motivates children to read by working with them, their parents, and community members to make reading a fun and beneficial part of everyday life. RIF’s highest priority is reaching underserved children from birth to age 8. Through community volunteers in every state and U.S. territory, RIF provided 4 million children with 15 million new, free books and literacy resources last year. The Friends of the Library will host a skit on February 29 and April 11 will feature the puppet show, Dragon Stories, presented by puppeteer, Markie Scholz. For more information about these programs contact the library at 334-3490.
