Wednesday, May 9 “Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked” will be shown at the library at 1:45 p.m. as an Early Release Film. Playing around while aboard a cruise ship, the Chipmunks and Chipettes accidentally go overboard and end up marooned in a tropical paradise. They discover their new turf is not as deserted as it seems… the film is rated G and 87 minutes. The library will provide popcorn, but be sure to bring a drink.
Barbara Taylor Bradford’s newest book is “Letter from a Stranger.” Justine Nolan, who lost her beloved grandmother a decade ago, inadvertently opens a letter addressed to her mother and discovers that her grandmother, Gabri, is still alive – her mother has deliberately estranged the family from her all these years. Justine’s search for her grandmother takes her to Istanbul where she begins to uncover family secrets which stretch all the way back to World War II. As the layers of deception peel away, Justine begins to understand more about the women in her family.

New non-fiction books are “Small Space Container Gardens: Transform Your Balcony, Porch, or Patio with Fruits, Flowers, Foliage, and Herbs” by Fern Richardson, “American Sniper: the Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History” by Chris Kyle and “One + One: Scarves, Shawls, & Shrugs” by Iris Schreier.
The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new books: “It Happened On a Train” by Mac Barnett and “Wonder Struck” by Brian Selznick. Also now available are: “Press Here” by Herve Tullet and “The Berenstain Bears and the Easter Story” by Jan Berenstain.
