Monday, January 28 the film, “Being There” will be shown at 6 p.m. A simple-minded gardener named Chance has spent all his life in the Washington D.C. house of an old man. When the man dies, Chance is put out on the street with no knowledge of the world except what he has learned from television. After a run-in with a limousine, he ends up a guest of a woman (Eve) and her husband Ben, an influential but sickly businessman. Now called Chauncey Gardner, Chance becomes friend and confidante to Ben and an unlikely political insider. A light meal will be available and Deane Tucker, Professor of Humanities at Chadron State College will facilitate the discussion which will include participants at WWC. The film is rated PG and is 130 minutes.

Weiss and “No Easy Day: the Autobiography of a Navy Seal: the Firsthand Account of the Mission That Killed Osama Bin Laden” by Mark Owen.
The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior titles “Spirit Wolf” by Kathryn Lasky and “The Tale of the Ill-Gotten Catfish” by Barbara Hay. New books in the easy section include “Flight of the Last Dragon” by Robert Burleigh, “Mrs. Mustard’s Baby Faces” by Jane Wattenberg and “The Moose Belongs to Me” by Oliver Jeffers.
