Meghan Casey will return to the library on Friday, July 27 at 1 p.m. with the puppet show, “Rock and Read.” Casey is an accomplished ventriloquist and her show will entertain all ages, plan to attend!
The next “Paint @ the Library” event will be Monday, August 13, space is limited and registration is required. Please call the library at 334-3490 to register for either the morning session at 10:30 a.m. or the 1 p.m. afternoon session.
“The Hypnotist” is novel by a new author for the library, Lars Kepler. In a Stockholm hospital Detective Inspector Joona Linna is faced with a boy who witnessed the gruesome murder of his family. He’s suffered more than a hundred knife wounds and is comatose with shock. Desperate for information, Linna enlists the aid of a hypnotist, Dr. Erik Maria Bark. As the hypnosis begins, a long and terrifying chain of events unfurls with reverberations far beyond Linna’s case. Other books available in the series are: “The Fire Witness,” “The Sandman” and “The Nightmare.”

New non-fiction titles are “The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs: a New History of the Lost World” by Steve Brusatte, “A Tapestry Garden: the Art of Weaving Plants and Place” by Marietta O’Byrne and “The Cookie Cure: a Mother-Daughter Memoir of Cookies and Cancer” by Susan Stachler.
The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior titles, “The Last” by Katherine Applegate, “Ghosts Don’t Ride Bikes, Do They?” by Andres Miedoso and “The Penderwicks at Last” by Jeanne Birdsall. A few of the newer easy books are ”Daniel Has an Allergy” by Angela Santomero, “The Princess and the Pony” by Kate Beaton and “Monkey and Duck Quack Up” by Jennifer Hamburg.
