The library will be closed on Monday, February 18, 2019 for President’s Day. Normal hours resume at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

“Darkest Hour” will be shown on Monday, February 25 as part of the “@ the Oscars” Dinner & Movie series. In 1940 the fate of Western Europe hangs on British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, who must decide whether to negotiate with Adolf Hitler, or fight on knowing that it could mean a humiliating defeat for Britain and its empire. “Darkest Hour” was nominated for best picture and actor, Gary Oldman (Winston Churchill) received the Best Actor Award. The film also won the award for Best Makeup. The film begins at 6 p.m. and a light meal will be available.

The next “Book Art Class” will be held on Wednesday, February 27 at 5 p.m. Call the library at 307-334-3490 to reserve your space.

W.E.B. Griffin’s newest novel is entitled “The Enemy of My Enemy.” A month ago, Special Agent James Cronley, Jr. managed to capture two notorious Nazi war criminals – but not without leaving some dead bodies and outraged Austrian police in his wake. Now someone has broken those criminals out of jail, and he must track them down again. Cronley is fast finding out that the phrase “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” offers no guarantees. In the world of international espionage a friend will kill you just as quickly as an enemy.

Other new fiction books are “The Bloody Spur” by Mickey Spillane, ”Cowboy Brave” by Carolyn Brown, “Siege of Stone” by Terry Goodkind, “The Witch Elm” by Tana French, “Thunderhead Range” by Sam Bowie, “Turning Point” by Danielle Steel, and “Beneath a Scarlet Sky” by Mark Sullivan. A new young adult title is “Archenemies” by Marissa Meyer.
The popular, “Girl Wash Your Face: Stop Believing the Lies About Who You Are So You Can Become Who You Were Meant To Be” by Rachel Hollis is among new non-fiction along with “All That Heaven Allows: a Biography of Rock Hudson” by Mark Griffin, “Havoc & Solace: Poems From the Inland West” by Carol L. Deering and “Contemporary Paper-Pieced Quilts’ by Jeannie Jenkins.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior books “The Day of the Dead Mystery” by Gertrude Chandler Warner and “Dog Man: Brawl of the Wild” by Dav Pilkey. A few of the newer easy titles are “I Lost My Tooth” by Mo Willems, “Time Together, Time Well Spent” by Casey Rislov, “Pete the Cat Checks Out the Library” by James Dean and “Fergus and Zeke at the Science Fair” by Kate Messner.

“Green Eggs and Ham!” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, Feb 19, 2019. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for preschool aged children. Call 307-334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story. Dial-A-Story is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
