The Friends of the Library will be hosting their annual Homemade Christmas Cookie & Candy Sale along with homemade soups and breads on Wednesday, December 4 beginning at 3 p.m. Select a variety of items and pay by the pound or select pre-made cookie and candy plates. This fundraiser helps provide programming and materials throughout the year.
Mark your calendar for December 8! “Bettman & Halpin” return to Lusk with a Christmas show you won’t want to miss. This Colorado-based talented duo will feature Christmas songs you’ve heard before as well as some you haven’t – sure to be a treat! The show will be held on Sunday, December 8 at 1:30 p.m. at the Congregational Church.
With “Death in Focus” Anne Perry has started a new mystery series set in pre-World War II in Europe. Elena Standish is forced to deliver a message to Berlin that could change the fate of Europe and places her in a dangerous predicament. Only her diplomatic father and her grandfather’s old contacts from M16 may be the only people who can get her out alive – if Elena can tell the difference between her allies and her enemies.
Other new fiction books are “The Titanic Secret” by Clive Cussler, “What Rose Forgot” by Nevada Barr, “Virgil Wander” by Leif Enger, “The World That We Knew” by Alice Hoffman, “Land of Wolves” by Craig Johnson “A Single Thread” by Tracy Chevalier, “Killer Instinct” by James Patterson and “Met Her Match” by Jude Deveraux. A new young adult title is “The Silence Between Us” by Alison Gervais.
“Me” by Elton John is now among new non-fiction, along with “Artificial Intelligence; a Guide for Thinking Humans” by Melanie Mitchell and “Point of View: a Fresh Look at Work, Faith, and Freedom” by Elizabeth Hasselbeck.
The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior titles, “Shouting at the Rain” by Lynda Mullaly Hunt, “My Life as an Ice Cream Sandwich” by Ibi Zoboi, “A Place to Belong” by Cynthia Kadohata, plus the series, “Owl Diaries” by Rebecca Elliot. Some of the newer easy titles are: “Zombies Don’t Eat Veggies” by Megan Lacera, “How to Walk a Dump Truck” by Peter Pearson, “Fern and Horn” by Marie-Louise Gay and “The Best Seat in Kindergarten” by Katherine Kenah.
“22 Days Until Christmas!” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, December 3, 2019. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year. Call to hear a recorded story anytime by dialing 334-3274. The Friends of the Library sponsor this storyline.
