The second film in the “Hotels Around the World” dinner and movie series will be shown on Monday, February 24 at 6 p.m. and will feature “The Grand Budapest Hotel.” In the wake of WWI Gustave H, a legendary concierge at a posh European hotel, and Zero Moustafa, the lobby boy who becomes his most trusted friend, bond as they search for a priceless Renaissance painting and find themselves in the battle for an enormous family fortune. The film is rated R and 100 minutes. A light meal will be available and library programs are free and open to the public.

A fun Pajama Storyhour is planned for Wednesday, February 26 at 5:30 p.m. and continues until 6:30 p.m. at the library. Bring your preschool-aged children in their pajamas for the Rocket-themed program that will feature stories, crafts and more! This program is sure to be a “blast!” A second evening Storyhour will be held on March 26.

Mark your calendar for “Around the World: Belize” with Candy Dooper on Wednesday, March 5 at 6 p.m. at the library.

Joshunda Sanders’ novel “Women of the Post” is inspired by facts. In 1944 Judy Washington is tired of cleaning houses for next to nothing while her husband is fighting overseas. When she is recruited to join the Women’s Army Corps, she jumps at the opportunity and becomes friends with other women in her unit who come from different cities and circumstances. Soon they receive orders to sort over one million pieces of mail in England, becoming the only unit of Black women to serve overseas during World War II. This book is also available digitally in Hoopla.

Other new fiction books include “All the Way Gone” by Joanna Schaffhausen, “Deadly Betrayal” by James Clay, “Pro Bono” by Thomas Perry, “Lie for a Million” by Janet Dailey, “Some Die Young” by William W. Johnstone, “Robert Ludlum’s the Bourne Vendetta” by Brian Freeman and “See How They Hide” by Allison Brennan.

“Save Our Souls: the True Story of a Castaway Family, Treachery, and Murder” by Matthew Pearl is among new non-fiction books.

The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new chapter books: “Quest in Yosemite National Park” by Aaron Johnson, “Ricky Ricotta’s Mighty Robot vs the Unpleasant Penguins From Pluto” by Dav Pilkey and “No Place Like Home” by Saied Mendez. Among the newer easy books are “The Big Bang Theory: a Matter of Friendship” by Ivan Cohen, “Emergency Quarters” by Carlos Matias, “My Dog Just Speaks Spanish” by Andrea Caceres and “Chester Barkingham Saves the Country” by Julie Falatko.

“Monkey See, Monkey Do!” is the theme for Storyhour on February 25, 2025. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for preschool-aged children. Call 307-334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story! Dial-A-Story is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
