The first of three fall adult crafting sessions will be held on Monday, October 21 from 1-3 p.m. Learn the techniques of folded book art and walk away with a completed project! Register by calling the library at 307-334-3490; library programs are free and open to the public. A painting is planned for November 18 and on Monday, December 16 a punched frame is on tap.

Karin Slaughter’s latest novel is “This is Why We Lied.” GBI investigator Will Trent and Medical Examiner Sara Linton thought the gorgeous and secluded McAlpine Lodge seemed the ideal place to celebrate their honeymoon. Then Mercy McAlpine, the manager, turned up dead. As Will and Sara try to untangle a decades-old web of secrets they realize that everyone is a liar but only one is a killer. “This is Why We Lied” is also available on CD and digitally in Libby.

New non-fiction books are “Mississippi Swindle: Brett Favre and the Welfare Scandal That Shocked America” by Shad White, “Podcasting For Dummies” by Tee Morris and “100,000+ Baby Names: the Most Helpful, Complete, & Up-To-Date Name Book” by Bruce Lansky.

The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new chapter books “The Legend of the Last Library” by Frank L. Cole and “Wild Wave” by Rodman Philbrick. Some of the newer picture books are “Monster Hands” by Karen Kane, “A Bold Pumpkin Plan” by Katy Hudson, “A Horse Called Now” by Ruth Doyle, “Clever Crow” by Chris Butterworth and “King Lion” by Emma Yarlett.

“Web Story!” is the theme for Storyhour on October 15, 2024. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for preschool-aged children. Children will have the opportunity to enjoy stories, interact with peers and create through crafts & activities. Call 307-334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story!
