Self-measured blood pressure monitoring kits are available for checkout at the library thanks to a partnership with the University of Wyoming’s Wyoming Center on Aging and the Wyoming Department of Health’s Chronic Disease Prevention Program. The kits include an automated home blood pressure cuff, logbooks and educational materials. Through June 8, 2024, if you checkout a kit and complete the enclosed survey you become eligible to receive a $100 gift card. Stop by if you need to monitor your blood pressure!

A photo exhibit of the wild horses of the McCullough Peaks area in northwest Wyoming is appearing in Niobrara County through May 24. This exhibit has been organized by FOAL (Friends of a Legacy); the wild horse advocacy organization based in Park County. FOAL developed the traveling exhibit to educate people about the importance of sustaining the herd of wild horses that roam over 120,000 acres of public land in Park and Big Horn counties. Stop by the library and enjoy the exhibit through May 24.

“The Woman at the Front” is the title of a novel by author Lecia Cornwell. When Eleanor Atherton graduates from medical school, near the top of her class in 1917, she dreams of going overseas to help the wounded but her ambition is thwarted at every turn. Then a twist of fate sends her to the battlefields of France as the private doctor of a British peer. There she must decide if she’s brave enough to break the rules, face her fears – and, take the chance to win the career she’s always wanted.

“The Girl Who Fought Back: Vladka Meed and the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising” by Joshua M. Greene is among new non-fiction along with “Nolo’s Guide to Social Security Disability: Getting and Keeping Your Benefits” by David A. Morton III and “Hot Sheet: Sweet and Savory Sheet Pan Recipes for Every Day and Celebration” by Olga Massov.

The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new chapter books “Legend of the Star Dragon” by Tracey West, “Welcome to Sparklegrove” by Rebecca Elliott and “Penny Draws a Secret Adventure” by Sara Shepard. Newer picture books are “Miss MacDonald Has a Farm” by Kalee Gwarjanski, “Jam, Too?” by JaNay Brown-Wood, “God Bless My Mommy” by Samantha Sweeney, “You’re Going to Love This Book” by Jory John and “Oops, Rabbit” by Jo Ham.

“Let’s Get Moving” is the theme for Storyhour on May 14, 2024. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for preschool-aged children. Call 307-334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story! Dial-A-Story is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
