Wednesday, February 21 Lucas Keeler, Petroleum Engineer Technician from the BLM’s Newcastle Field Office will share his expertise on using the Bureau of Land Management land records as well as the Wyoming Newspaper Project. Attendees are welcome to bring their laptops and devices, the library will also have a few available. This program will be welcome information for local historians and begins at 6 p.m.
“The Life of Pi” is the featured film in the “Living Wild” Dinner & Movie series on Monday, February 26 at 6 p.m. A young man who survives a disaster at sea is hurtled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery. While cast away he forms an unexpected connection with another survivor: a fearsome Bengal tiger. The film is rated PG and 125 minutes. A meal will be available. Library programs are free and open to the public.
Thomas Perry’s latest novel is entitled “Hero.” When Justine Poole, who provides security for wealthy and high-profile Hollywood stars, prevents a brazen robbery at the Beverly Hills home of two of her clients she is lauded as a local hero. However, the spotlight puts her in the crosshairs of the crime kingpin behind the burglaries and he calls on Leo Sealy, who will kill anyone for a price, but Sealy isn’t prepared for just how quick and resourceful Justine can be. “Hero” is also available in Libby and Hoopla.

West, “Holmes, Marple, & Poe” by James Patterson and “Accused” by Clair M. Poulson. “The Cursed Rose” by Leslie Vedder is among new young adult titles.
New non-fiction includes “The Amish Wife: Unraveling the Lies, Secrets, and Conspiracy That Let a Killer Go Free” by Gregg Olsen and “50 States of Great: Road Trip Guide to America” by Scott Sink.
The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior titles “Big Nate: No Worries” by Lincoln Peirce, “Cornbread and Poppy at the Museum” by Matthew Cordell, “Young Whit and the Cloth of Contention” by Dave Arnold and “Cat Kid Comic Club Influencers” by Dav Pilkey. Some of the newer easy books are “The Little Tiger” by Nicola Killen, “The Big Storm” by Norm Feuti, “Luck of the Claw” by Steve Foxe, and “The Horse That Jumped” by Thomas Docherty.
“Birdie’s Delight!” is the theme for Storyhour on February 20, 2024. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for children age 3 through kindergarten. The Friends of the Library sponsor Dial-A-Story, call 307-334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story.
