The Friends of the Library will host their annual Homemade Cookie, Candy, Soup & Bread sale on Wednesday, December 11 at 3 p.m. Proceeds from the sale fund Reading Is FUN (RIF), The Dolly Parton Imagination Library, Dial-A-Story and many live performers throughout the year. Plan to stop by!

The library was not able to schedule a book signing for local author Adah Pflughoeft so signed copies of her book, “These Great, Dark Days: a novel of WWII” are available at the library for $10. Copies of Mark Lohr’s “The Book” are also available for $22. Both books would be a great gift. Stop by soon!

Paint @ the Library will be held on Monday, December 16 from 1-3 p.m. Call the library at 307-334-3490 to register as space is limited.

Effective December 2 the library is closing at 5 p.m. on Fridays. Library hours are: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Noon to 7 p.m. on Wednesday.   

A new holiday novel is “The Christmas Tree Farm” by Laurie Gilmore. Kira hates Christmas which is unfortunate since she just brought a Christmas tree farm. Bennett is trying to take a break from his life and his constant desire to fix things. Somehow fate finds Ben trapped by a blanket of snow at Kira’s farm. Maybe these two lost souls will have a Christmas they will remember forever.  

Other new holiday books are “Coming Home to Paradise” by Carolyn Brown, “The Merry Matchmaker” by Sheila Roberts, “One Big Happy Family” by Susan Mallery, “The Christmas Cottage” by Davis Bunn, “Rockin’ Around the Chickadee” by Donna Andrews, “The December Market” by RaeAnne Thayne, “A Christmas Duet” by Debbie Macomber and “The More the Terrier” by David Rosenfelt. A new young adult series is “The Mystery Searchers” by Barry Forbes.

In the new non-fiction section check out “Invoking the Beyond: the Kantian Rift, Mythologized Menaces, and the Quest For the New Man” by local authors Paul and Phillip Collins along with “Targeted: Beirut: the 1983 Marine Barracks Bombing and the Untold Origin Story of the Wave on Terror” by Jack Carr and “Sports Devotions For Kids: What the Games We Love Teach Us About God and Life” by Tracy M. Sumner.

The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior book titles, “The Frightened Puppy” by Holly Webb, “Wish Monster” by J. A. White and “The History Mystery Kids” series by Daniel Kenney. New holiday picture books are “Yule Not Open This Book” by Andy Lee, “The Christmas Snow Globe” by Sibylle Delacroix, “A Stray Dog For Christmas” by Jack Jokinen, “Merry Christmas, Splat” by Ron Scotton and “Santa’s First Christmas” by Mac Barnett.

“Snowflakes & Christmas Trees!” is the theme for Storyhour on December 10, 2024. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for preschool-aged children. Call 307-334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story! Dial-A-Story is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
