Learn the techniques of folded book art on Monday, October 21 from 1-3 p.m. at the library. This craft utilizes old hardback books, and revitalizes them into coveted works of art for your home or for a gift for someone special. Call 307-334-3490 to register, this class is geared for adults and youth over 10 years. This is the first of three fall projects with a painting being featured in November and a frame in December.

The third film in the “Favorites” Dinner & Movie series featuring western films with female leads is “Calamity Jane” with Doris Day. The 1953 film is rated G and is 105 minutes and a meal will be provided.

“Burn” is the title of Peter Heller’s new novel. Jess and Storey make an annual pilgrimage to the most remote corners of the country. After weeks of being off the grid, the men reach a small town and are shocked at what they find: a bridge blown apart, buildings burned to the ground and bombed out cars abandoned by the side of the road. Trying to make sense of this destruction they set their sights on finding a way home. Then a startling discovery alters their path and their chance of escape. “Burn” is also available digitally in Libby.

New young adult books are “The Darkness Within Us” by Tricia Levenseller and “Obsidian” by Jennifer L. Armentrout.

“How to Talk to Anyone About Anything: the Practice of Safe Conversations” by Harville Hendrix is among new non-fiction books along with “Nothing to Tell: Extraordinary Stories of Montana Ranch Women” by Donna Gray and “The Old Farmer’s Almanac 2025.

The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new books “The Secret of the Hidden Scrolls” series by M. J. Thomas and “Oh My Dog” by Iva Marie Palmer. New picture books include “I Love You the Way You Are” by Ron Van Maurik, “Rescue Cat” by Stephen Savage, “Fall Feast: Nature’s Harvest” by Sean Taylor, “It’s Not Easy Being a Ghost” by Marilyn Sadler and “Rusty and His Saddle” by Wyoming’s Mary Fichtner.

“Ghostly!” is the theme for Storyhour on October 22, 2024. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for preschool-aged children.
