Paint @ the Library will be held on Monday, August 5 from 1-3 p.m. at the library. Call 307-334-3490 to secure your spot! Children under 10 should be accompanied by an adult.

The Friends of the Library have a fun event on tap for Tuesday, August 6 at 5 p.m. at the Niobrara County Library – Ann Lincoln’s Foam Party! A foam machine will bring an hour of fun and entertainment; plan to wear clothes that are suitable for getting wet. The biodegradable, environmentally friendly foam is safe and there is no doubt this is going to be fun for everyone! The Friends of the Library are also planning root beer floats for those in attendance. Plan now for an hour of FUN!

Have you ordered your peaches? Call the library at 307-334-3940 by Friday, August 2 to place your order for Palisade, Colorado peaches! The 18–20 pound box is $50 and pick up is planned for Thursday, August 8 between 1:00-5:30 p.m. This is a Niobrara County Library Foundation fundraiser.

“Devil’s Kitchen” is the newest novel by Candice Fox. The 4-man firefighting crew of Engine 99 has spent years rushing fearlessly into the hot zone of major fires across New York City. They have also stolen millions from banks, jewelry stores and art galleries becoming the most successful heist crew on the east coast. Their newest member is Andy Nearland who has been brought in to help with their biggest job ever, she is also an undercover operative charged with bringing the crew to justice – if her cover doesn’t go up in flames. “Devil’s Kitchen” is also available on CD.

Other new books include “Fourth Wing” by Rebecca Yarros, “Death Behind Every Door” by Heather Graham, “Southern Man” by Greg Iles, “Must Love Bees” by Sasha Summers, “Last House, or the Age of Oil” by Jessica Shattuck, “Westport” by James Comey, “For the Love of Summer” by Susan Mallery and “The Charmed Friends of Trove Isle” by Annie Rains. “Children of Virtue and Vengeance” by Tomi Adeyemi is among new young adult titles.

New non-fiction books are “A Walk in the Park: the True Story of a Spectacular Misadventure in the Grand Canyon” by Kevin Fedarko, “What This Comedian Said Will Shock You” by Bill Maher and “Every Tenant’s Legal Guide” by Ann O’Connell and Janet Portman.

The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new titles “The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Prisoner’s Dilemma” by Trenton Lee Stewart, “The (Mostly) True Story of Cleopatra’s Needle” by Dan Gutman and “Haunted Folk and Fairy Tales” by Wiley Blevins. New picture books include “Fergus and Zeke and the Great Farm Field Trip” by Kate Messner, “Looking For Peppermint, or Life in the Forest” by Maxwell Eaton III, “If You Run Out of Words” by Felicita Sala and “With Dad” by Richard Jackson.

“Friendship Day!” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays throughout the year for preschool-aged children. Bring your children for stories, activities and crafts and the opportunity to interact with their peers. Call 307-334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story!
