If you haven’t registered for summer reading there is still time!  The library’s goal-based reading program is for all ages. Stop by the library and find out more about this 10-week reading program.

The first of three “Paint @ the Library” events will be held on Monday, June 3. Artist Barb Orr has a seascape is planned. Call the library at 307-334-3490 to secure your spot. Children under the age of 10 should be accompanied by an adult.

The Friends of the Library present magician Jeff Quinn as the first of several live performers this summer! He will present Adventures in Magic at the library on Wednesday, May 29 at 4 p.m. The show is filled with magic tricks involving astronauts, cowboys, pirates, explorers and more and is fun for the entire family! Quinn is an award-winning magician from Omaha, Nebraska.

Beginning Tuesday, May 28 the library’s regularly weekly scheduled programs begin with Storyhour at 10 a.m. on Tuesday for preschool-aged children. LegoTime for all ages will be held at 1 p.m. and Read with Delilah is at 2 p.m. for children who want to read aloud. On Wednesdays, Adventure Begins at Your Library Crafts & Activities will be held at 1 p.m. and Thursdays will feature a movie at 1 p.m. There may be times when a performance replaces the regularly scheduled event. Library programs are free and open to the public. Stop by for more information.

Mark your calendar for Wednesday, June 5’s “The 6Ps of Travel Planning” with Cheyenne, Wyoming travel bloggers and authors Scott & Tiff Sink at 6 p.m.

Karen Rose’s latest novel is entitled “Beneath Dark Waters.” Prosecutor J.P. “Kaj” Cardozo is working on a high-profile case that had made headlines all over the country. When his son becomes the victim of a kidnapping attempt as a threat to Kaj, he turns to a private investigative firm famous for their protection services. Then a group of murder-for-hires target Kaj, his son and his client, leaving them all scrambling for safety.

Other new books are “The Lies Among Us” by Sarah Beth Durst, “Only the Brave” by Danielle Steel, “Midnight Harbor” by Davis Bunn, “A Rogue at Stonecliffe” by Candace Camp, “Lost Birds” by Anne Hillerman, “Matterhorn” by Christopher Reich, “The End of Her” by Shari Lapena, and “Lucky” by Jane Smiley. A new young adult book is “Cursed Crowns” by Catherine Doyle.

“Swamp Kings: the Story of the Murdaugh Family of South Carolina & a Century of Backwoods Power” by Jason Ryan is among new non-fiction along with “Divorce Without Court: a Guide to Mediation & Collaborative Divorce” by Katherine E. Stoner.

The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior titles “Lucky Duck” by Chris Kurtz, “Cave of the Crystal Dragon” by Tracey West and some new titles in “The Campground Kids” series by C. R. Fulton. Newer easy books are “Penelope Rex and the Problem with Pets” by Ryan T. Higgins, “Cinnamon Bun, I Love You” by Amy Schwartz, “Always Your Stepmom” by Stephanie Stansbie and “Proper Badger Would Never” by Lauren Glattly.

“Swimming Along!” is the theme for Storyhour on May 28, 2024. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays throughout the year for preschool-aged children. Call 307-334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story! Dial-A-Story is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
