Library News

A reception with artist, Jason Avilez will be held at the library at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7. Be sure to stop in and visit with Jason or come by anytime during the month of November to view his work.

The library will be closed on Monday, November 12, 2018 in observance of Veteran’s Day. Regular hours resume on Tuesday.

Paint @ the Library will be held on Wednesday, November 14 at 5:30 p.m. Artist Barb Orr has a piece planned that is suitable for all levels of painting experience. Space is limited; please call the library at 334-3490 to claim your space.

The movie, “Incredibles 2” will be shown at the library on Friday, November 9 at 1:35 p.m. “Christopher Robin” will be featured on November 16. The library provides the popcorn; please bring your own drink.

“The Roan Maverick” is a new novel by C.R. Strahan. This tale is narrated by 107-year- old Josie Watson Stewart, who came to Wyoming as a young bride in 1887. Eager for the opportunities the frontier would provide, she quickly finds herself embroiled in a political conflict – the Johnson County War.

Other new fiction books include “Songbird of the West” by James Clay, “Sunflower Girl” by Rosanna Chiofalo, “The Secrets We Carried” by Mary McNear, “Bury the Lead” by Archer Mayor, “Miss Wilton’s Waltz” by Josi S. Kilpack, “From Here To You” by Jamie McGuire, “New Mexico Showdown” by Preston Lewis, “Cowboy Honor” by Carolyn Brown, and “Under My Skin” by Lisa Unger. New titles for the young adult are “Two Dark Reigns” by Kendare Blake and “Resistance” by Jennifer A. Nielson.

“On Desperate Ground: the Marines at the Reservoir, the Korean War’s Greatest Battle” by Hampton Sides is now available in the non-fiction section along with “The 11th Commandment” by Dr. David Tucker and “Estrogen Matters: Why Taking Hormones in Menopause Can Improve Women’s Well-Being and Lengthen Their Lives – Without Risk of Breast Cancer” by Avrum Bluming.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior titles, “Strays Like Us” by Cecilia Galante, “Who Ghost There” by Karla Sakas Shropshire and “Roxie and the Hooligans” by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. Some of the newer easy books include “Cece Loves Science” by Kimberly Derting, “The Flying Sewing Machine” by Nancy Zieman, “The Pumpkin Contest” created by Neville Astley and “The Three Little Superpigs” by Claire Evans.

“Animal Helpers!” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday for children age 3 through kindergarten. Call to hear a recorded story anytime by dialing 334-3274. This storyline is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
