The Friends of the Library will be sponsoring their annual Book Sale and Ice Cream Social on Saturday, June 23. The Book Sale begins at 8 a.m. and the Ice Cream Social at 11 a.m., both events end at 2 p.m. Be sure to stop by!
The Lego Guy will be at the library on Monday, June 25 at 1 p.m., Curtis Mork will have detailed Lego creations on display and will also share Lego history, everyone will have the opportunity to build their own creations as well.
The movie, “Zoo” will be shown on Thursday, June 28 at 1 p.m. Based on a true story, Irish teen Tom rescues a baby elephant named Buster from the zoo during the World War II air raids known as the Belfast Blitz. The film is rated PG and is 97 minutes. The library provides the popcorn; please bring your own drink.
“Wildwood” is a novel by new author Elinor Florence. Broke and desperate, Molly Bannister accepts the ironclad conditions laid down in her Great-aunt’s will: to receive her inheritance, Molly must spend one year in an abandoned, off-the-grid farm house in the remote backwoods of Northern Alberta, Canada. If she does, Molly will be able to sell the farm and fund her four-year-old daughters badly needed medical treatment. With grim determination, Molly teaches herself basic homesteading skills but her greatest peril comes from the brutal wilderness. Only the journal written by her courageous great-aunt inspires her to struggle on.

New non-fiction titles are “The Manson Women and Me: Murder, Monsters, Morality, and Murder” by Nikki Meredith, “Killing the Deep State: the Fight to Save President Trump” by Jerome R. Corsi, PhD. and “Amazing Brick Mosaics: Fantastic Projects to Build with Lego Blocks You Already Use” by Amanda Brack.
The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior books, “Judy Moody and the Bad Luck Charm” by Megan McDonald, “The Magic School Bus Rides Again: Sink or Swim” by Judy Katschke and “Hazy Bloom and the Pet Project” by Jennifer Hamburg. A few of the newer easy readers are “Wallpaper” by Thao Lam, “Honey Pie” by Carl Meister and “Goldfish on Vacation” by Sally Lloyd-Jones.
“Bumble Bees!” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, June 26, 2018. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday for children age 3 through kindergarten. The Friends of the Library sponsor Dial-A-Story, call 334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story.
