Author, Lori Howe will return to the library on Tuesday, September 12 at 5 p.m. with a storytelling poems workshop. Participants are invited to choose some event, whether personal, historic, fictional, or some combination of those, and tell the story from the perspectives of at least three people involved in the event. In this way, and in a poem format, participants tell the story of the event by triangulating around it from those three different perspectives. Plan now to hone your writing skills at this workshop. Library programs are free and open to the public.
Artist Carla Stroh’s work is on display at the library through the month of September. On Wednesday, September 13 a reception will be held at 5 p.m., please stop in and visit with Carla about the display.
Friday, September 15 the library will show the film, “Captain Underpants : The First Epic Movie” at 1:45 p.m. The film is rated PG and is 89 minutes.
“The Swallow’s Nest” is Emilie Richards’s latest novel. When Lila Swallow’s husband, Graham, goes into remission from lymphoma she throws a party. Just as the party is in full swing a woman appears, presents Lila with a baby boy and disappears. Lila is utterly unprepared for the fact that the boy is Graham’s son – conceived in a moment of despair. As time goes on, the unasked for, precious gift becomes a life-changer for three different women – each wanting him for herself.

New non-fiction titles are “Vegan Cheese: Simple, Delicious, Plant-based Recipes” by Jules Aron, “A Letter to My Friends…..If There Are Any Left” by NCHS Alumnus Chan H. Bayne and “Blast the Sugar Out! Lower Blood Sugar, Lose Weight, Live Better” by Ian K. Smith.
The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior books “A Fin-tastic Finish” by Davy Ocean, “Amazon Warrior” by Steve Korte and “Princess Cora and the Crocodile” by Laura Amy Schlitz. Some of the newer easy titles include “The Banana-Leaf Ball” by Katie Smith, “Out of This World” by James Dean and “Car Wash Crunch” by Lauren Forte.
