The Friends of the Library Annual Ice Cream Social and Book Sale is scheduled for Saturday, June 28 on the library lawn. The book sale begins at 8 a.m. and the Ice Cream Social at 11 a.m. Be sure to drop by and find some good reads and enjoy dessert with your family, friends and classmates. Several local authors will also be available with their books for sale.
Bids are now being accepted for the quilt donated by the Bag Ladies to the Niobrara County Library Foundation. The hand-pieced quilt is on display at the library so be sure to stop in and check it out.
The Disney adventure film, “Cloud 9” will be shown at the library on Thursday, June 26 at 1:30 p.m. The film is rated G and is 87 minutes. The library provides the popcorn; please bring your own drink.
A new human interest novel is “The One & Only” by Emily Giffin. Thirty-three year old Shea Rigsby has spent her entire life in Walker, Texas where she has a job in the University Athletic Department. When an unexpected tragedy strikes the tight-knit community Shea’s world is up-ended. Lynne Cheney’s newest work, “James Madison: a Life to Remember” is now available in the non-fiction section along with “Your Life Calling: Reimagining the rest of Your Life” by Jane Pauley and “The Complete Visual Guide to Building a House” by John Carroll.
The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior books, “Fly Away” by Patricia MacLachlan, “Ice Whale” by Jean Craighead George and “Middle School Ultimate Showdown” by James Patterson. Some new easy books are “Calling All Master Builders” by David Fentiman and “Some Bugs” by Angela DiTerizzi.
