The movie, “Turbo” will be shown on Wednesday, March 12 at 1:45 p.m. for the elementary Early Release. In the movie a freak accident might just help an everyday garden snail achieve his biggest dream: winning the Indy 500! The film is rated PG and lasts 96 minutes. We’ll provide the popcorn, but please bring your own drink.
It’s time for some “Reading Is Fun” fun with the puppet show “Little Green O’Glenn and the Lazy Leprechaun!” This program will be part of an evening of fun featuring crafts, snacks and of course all children will be able to select their very own books. A new mystery book is “A Killing at Cotton Hill” by Terry Shames. The Chief of Police of Jarrett Creek, Texas doubles as the town drunk. So when Dora Lee Parjeter is murdered, her old friend and former police chief, Samuel Craddock, steps in. As Craddock digs to find the identity of Dora’s killer, the foibles of the small-town residents are also revealed – their pettiness and generosity, their secret vices and true virtues. This is the first book in the Samuel Craddock mysteries.

“Miracles and Massacres: True and Untold Stories of the Making of America” by Glenn Beck is among new nonfiction as well as “I Am Malala: the Girl Who Stood Up For Education and Was Shot by the Taliban” by Malala Yousafzai and “Korea Reborn: a Grateful Nation Honors War Veterans For 60 Years of Growth” by The Republic of Korea’s Government.
The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has this new junior book, “The Boardwalk Mystery” by Gertrude Chandler Warner. Some new picture books include “Last Laugh” by Trey King, “Andrea Takes the Stage” by Sonia Sander and “Jack and the Never Land Pirates: Trick or Treasure” by Marcy Kelman.
