A new novel is “Stella Bain” by Anita Shreve. It is 1916, and a woman awakens in a field hospital in France. She wears a British nurse’s aide’s uniform but has an American accent with no memory of her past. She knows only that she can drive an ambulance and that her name is Stella Bain — desperate to find answers, she tries to get her past back.
Other new fiction books include “We Are Water” by Wally Lamb, “Perfectly Matched” by Maggie Brendan, “The Valley of Amazement” by Amy Tan and “A Nantucket Christmas” by Nancy Thayer. Twenty different suspense writers have joined forces to create the novel, “Inherit the Dead,” other good reads include: “Winners” by Danielle Steel, “Dust” by Patricia Cornwell, “Longbourn” by Jo Baker and “Three Can Keep a Secret” by Archer Mayor. James Dashner begins a new young adult series with “The Eye of Minds.”
“Hope in Front of Me: Find Purpose in Your Darkest Moments” by past American Idol contestant Danny Gokey is one of several new nonfiction titles, others are “The Second-Chance Dog: a Love Story” by Jon Katz and “Low Carb High Fat Baking: Over 40 Gluten-and-Sugar-Free Pastries, Desserts, and Delicious Treats” by Mariann Andersson.
The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has this new junior book “Ketchup Clouds” by Annabel Pitcher. Some new holiday picture books are “The Night Santa Got Lost: How NORAD Saved Christmas” by Michael Keane and “The Christmas Wish” by Lori Evert.
