The winter Afterschool programs begin January 7, if you haven’t registered your child there is still time – kindergarten meets on Monday, first and second grades on Tuesdays and the third, fourth and fifth grades on Thursday. The sessions are held from afterschool until 4:30 and run through the end of February. Tall Tales will be the focus, so plan now to come by!
“Frankenweenie” will be the early release film on Wednesday, January 9 at 1:45 p.m. This film is a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life — with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous. Rated PG, the film is 87 minutes. Bring your drinks, the library will provide popcorn.
A new fiction book is “Collateral” by Ellen Hopkins. Ashley meets a handsome marine named Cole. Their relationship evolves into a deeply felt love affair that goes on for 5 years and survives 4 deployments. Cole wants Ashley to marry him, but when she meets a college professor with similar pursuits and values, she begins to see what life might be outside the shades of war.
