On behalf of the Niobrara County Library Board, Foundation, Friends and Staff we would like to thank everyone for their support of library programming, activities and fundraisers this year and we wish everyone the happiest of Christmases and a prosperous New Year.
The Library Board of Trustees has announced that the library will be closed the following dates during the holiday season: Thursday through Sunday, December 24-27, 2009 and Thursday through Sunday, December 31, 2009 – January 3, 2010. Be sure to get your holiday supply of books and movies!
A new programming series begins in January – watch for more details!
Wally Lamb’s newest book is “Wishin’ and Hopin’: a Christmas Story.” In this witty 1960’s holiday tale 10 year-old Felix is sure of a few things: the birds and the bees are puzzling, television is magical, and this is one Christmas he will never forget.
Other new fiction books include “Locked In” by Marcia Muller, “The Quilter’s Holiday” by Jennifer Chiaverini, “Happiness Key” by Emilie Richards, “The Gift” by Cecelia Ahern, “Blood Game” by Iris Johansen and “Home in Time for Christmas” by Heather Graham.
New adult non-fiction books are “What the Dog Saw and Other Adventures” by Malcolm Gladwell, “High on Arrival” by Mackenzie Phillips and “One Simple Act: Discovering the Power of Generosity” by Debbie Macomber.
New books for the young adults are/“Devil’s Kiss” by Sarwat Chadda and “Shiver” by Maggie Stiefvater.
The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior titles: “The Tiger’s Egg” by Jon Berkeley, “Alcatraz Versus the Knight of Crystallia” by Brandon Sanderson and “The Secret of Zoom” by Lynne Jonell. New easy titles are “Imogene’s Last Stand” by Candace Fleming, “Pigs Make me Sneeze” by Mo Williams and “Auntie Claus, Home for the Holidays” by Elsie Primavera.
“Merry Christmas!” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, December 22, a special visitor will also be on hand. The library will be closed on December 24. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten.
