The library will be closed on both Sunday and Monday November 11 & 12 for Veteran’s Day. Regular hours resume on Tuesday, November 13.
Two book signings are on tap for November – Chris Schneider will be at the library on Friday, November 16 to sign copies of his book “Starting Your Career in Broadcasting” and Tom Bleming will sign copies of his book, “Panama: Echoes of a Revolution” on Tuesday, November 20.
Schneider is the nephew of Polly and Bob Johnson and started his career in broadcasting in Torrington. He has worked at many major markets including Los Angeles, Chicago, London, Cincinnati and now Dallas. Schneider is also an inspirational speaker and will be featured at the Chamber banquet on Saturday, November 17.
Tom Bleming has lived in Lusk for many years and recently completed his first book. “Panama : Echoes From a Revolution” details his involvement as an American volunteer who went to fight for Panamanian freedom in 1979. Be sure to come by and visit with both of these authors.
A new fiction book is “Breaking Free” by Lauraine Snelling. Just get by. Those words have gotten Maggie Roberts through ten long, hard years after a tragic accident sent her to prison. Now she finds new purpose in working with an abused gelding that will be put down if he can’t be controlled. Other new titles include “In Cold Pursuit” by Sarah Andrews, “Somewhere in the City” by Marcia Muller, “We Shall Overcome” by Wyoming author, Abbie Johnson Taylor, “All Together Dead” by Charlene Harris and “The View From Mount Joy” by Lorna Landvik.
New adult non-fiction books are “The Legend of Billy Jenks and Other Wyoming Stories” by Robert Roripaugh, “Beasts in the Snow” by Jane Elkington Wohl and “Bad in the Good Old Days” by Larry K. Brown.
A new title for the young adults is “Jinx” by Meg Cabot.
The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior titles “A Surprise for Princess Ellie” by Diane Kimpton, “The Puzzling World of Winston Breen” by Eric Berlin, “Jackie’s Wild Seattle” by Will Hobbs and “Pony Problems” by Carolyn Keene.
New easy titles are “Rotten Richie and the Ultimate Dare” by Patricia Polacco, “There is a Bird on Your Head” by Mo Willems, “Pepper Picked a Pumpkin” by Linda Bleck and “A is for Zebra” by Mark Shulman.
“Children’s Book Week!” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 and Thursday, November 15, 2007. Storyhour is held every Tuesday and/or Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten.
