The Ben Markley Jazz Trio will be performing in concert at the Congregational Church on Sunday, November 17 at 1:30 p.m. Ben Markley is active as a composer and arranger with many big band and vocal jazz charts published through UNC Jazz Press; he is also an active performer in the Denver-metropolitan area and along the Colorado Front Range. Markley currently serves as Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Wyoming where he directs and coaches the Wyoming Jazz Ensemble, and combos. He also teaches applied jazz piano, improvisation and is the director of the UW Jazz Festival. Markley will be performing with Gonzalo Teppa on bass and Andy Wheelock on drums. This library sponsored program is free and open to the public.

Enroll Wyoming will be at the library on Monday, November 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Wednesday, December 11 from noon to 1:30 p.m. with Healthcare Navigator, Heather Webb. Open enrollment ends on December 15. If you are enrolling or need information plan to stop by.

Wilbur Smith’s latest novel is “Ghost Fire.” In 1754 Theo and Connie Courtney are torn apart by the tragic death of their parents. Theo joins the British in the war against the French and Indian Army. Connie makes her way to France where she is welcomed into high society. As the siblings find their destinies converging once more, they realize that the vengeance and redemption they both desperately seek could cost them their lives.

Other new fiction books are “The Shape of Night” by Tess Gerritson, “Trap Lane” by Stella Cameron, “The Institute” by Stephen King, “The One Who Stays” by Toni Blake, “The Scribbly Man” by Terry Goodkind, “Butterfly Yellow” by Thanhha Lai, “The Fifth Column” by Andrew Gross, “One More River To Cross” by Jane Kirkpatrick, “This Tender Land” by William Kent Kruege and the “Immortal Highlander Series” by Hazel Hunter. A new title for the young adult is “Just My Luck” by Jennifer Honeybourn.

New non-fiction titles are “Talking to Strangers: What We Should Know About the People We Don’t Know” by Malcolm Gladwell, “Being at Your Best When Your Kids Are at Their Worst: Practical Compassion in Parenting” by Kim John Payne and “Palaces for People” by Eric Klinenberg.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior titles, “Not If I Can Help It” by Carolyn Mackler, “Each Tiny Spark” by Pablo Cartaya and “A Swirl of Ocean” by Melissa Sarno. Several of the newer easy titles include “Sorry, Grown-Ups You Can’t Go to School” by Christina Geist, “No More Monsters Under Your Bed” by Jordon Chouteau, “Look Out! A Storm” by David Milgrim and “I Am a Wolf” by Kelly Leigh Miller.

“Gobble Friends!” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, November 19, 2019. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year. Call to hear a recorded story by dialing: 334-3274. Dial-A-Story is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
