“Chronicles of a Radical Hag (with recipes)” is a new novel by Lorna Landvik. When a beloved columnist suffers a massive stroke her publisher, Susan McGarth tries to fill the void with Haze Evens’ past columns, along with occasional reprinted responses from readers. Most of the letters were favorable but there was one man who had dubbed Haze’s “liberal” ideas the “chronicles of a radical hag.” Haze had chosen to mollify her critics with homey recipes – believing that buttery almond crescents would certainly “melt away and misdirect anger.”

Other new fiction books are “The Heavens” by Sandra Newman, “A Lethal Legacy” by Heather Graham, “Wild Card” by Stuart Woods, “Dead in a Week” by Andrea Kane, “Marrying My Cowboy” by Diana Palmer, “Mercy River” by Glen Erik Hamilton, “Half Finished” by Lauraine Snelling, “Hearts in Harmony” by Beth Wiseman and “Absaroka Valley” by Lauran Paine. Among new young adult titles are “The Dysasters” by P.C. Cast and “Deathcaster” by Cinda Williams Chima.

“Loonshots: How to Nurture the Crazy Ideas That Win Wars, Cure Diseases, and Transform Industries” by Safi Bahcall is among new nonfiction along with “Chasing Cosby: the Downfall of America’s Dad” by Nicole Weisensee Egan and “Harmonic Healing” by Dr. Linda Lancaster.
