The library will be closed on Monday, September 3, 2018 for Labor Day. Regular hours resume on Tuesday, September 4.

Two troubadours are riding into Lusk for a special evening of contemporary western music and poetry on Tuesday, September 11 at 6 p.m. at the library. Kerry Grombacher and Aspen Black will perform “Songs & Stories of the American West.” Their songs draw vivid portraits and tell fascinating stories that are set in the Western landscape where they’ve worked and traveled with cowboys and Indians, ranchers and rodeo riders, outfitters and chuckwagon cooks as well as lawmen and lawbreakers. This concert kicks off activities to celebrate 100-years of the Carnegie building which was completed in September of 1919.

Celebrate your library and its history by registering to read 100 library books (or more) throughout the year! Punch cards will help to track reading for children and adults. In September 2019 successful participants will be eligible for prizes. Stop by and register today!

A new novel is “All these Beautiful Strangers” by Elizabeth Klehfoth. One summer day Grace, the beautiful wife of real estate mogul Alistair Calloway, vanished from the family lake house without a trace, leaving behind her seven year-old daughter, Charlie, and a slew of unanswered questions. Years later Charlie, determined to let go of the past, is attending Knollwood, the prestigious New England school. She has been tapped by the A’s, but to become a member she must play “the game” which is a semester-long diabolical high-stakes scavenger hunt. As the dark events of past and present converge, Charlie begins to fear that she may not survive the terrible truth about her family, her school, and her own life.

Other new fiction books “The Other Woman” by Daniel Silva, “Red Water Rising” by Laura Ann Gilman, “Bluestone & Vine” by Donna Kauffmann, “Turbulence” by Stuart Woods, “Gone But Knot Forgotten” by Mary Marks, “Clock Dance” by Anne Tyler, “Spymaster” by Brad Thor, “Cottage By the Sea” by Debbie Macomber and “Double Blind” by Iris Johansen. “Outcast” by Taran Matharu is a new title in the young adult section.

New non-fiction titles are “Three Days in Moscow: Ronald Regan and the Fall of the Soviet Union” by Bret Baier, “The Drought-Resilient Farm” by Dale Strickler and “Low-Mess Crafts for Kids: 72 Projects to Create Your Own Magical Worlds” by Debbie Chapman.
