Back-by-popular demand - Wayne and Wingnut! Wayne and his puppet friends will return to the library for an outdoors back-to-school program on Wednesday, August 28 at 6:30 p.m. Plan now to attend this energetic fun-filled program sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Ice cream floats will be a part of the fun as well as a free book!

The Dinner & Movie series returns with “Hachi” showing on Monday, August 26 at 6 p.m. Deane Tucker, PhD., Chadron State College returns to lead the discussions, a free light meal is also available.

Afterschool programs begin the first part of September for K-5, call the library at 334-3490 to register your children.

A new author in our library is C. M. Wendelboe, a retired lawman who now lives in Cheyenne. His latest novel is “Death on the Greasy Grass.” FBI agent Manny Tanno is taking some much needed R & R at the site of the Little Big Horn. A death on the reservation cuts his vacation short - he soon learns that the secrets of the past have a way of stirring up trouble in the present – check out all of the Spirit Road mystery series.

Other new fiction books include “Perfect Timing” by Catherine Anderson, “Hunting Eve” by Iris Johansen, “The Light in the Ruins” by Chris Bohjalian, “Paradise Valley” by Rosanne Bittner, “The Pieces of Summer” by Wanda E. Brunstetter, “Downfall” by Jeff Abbott, “The Letters” by Suzanne Woods Fisher and “Against the Odds” by Kat Martin. “A Trick of the Light” by Lois Metzger is now in the YA section.

“The Love Dare For Parents” by Stephen Kendrick, Phil Robert’s “Cody’s Cave: National Monuments and the Politics of Public Lands in the 20th Century West” and “Crochet For the Kitchen” by Tove Fevang are a few new non-fiction titles.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior titles: “Bulu: African Wonder Dog” by Dick Houston and “The Frog Who Croaked” by Jarrett J. Krosoczka. New easy books are “Papa’s Mechanical Fish” by Candace Fleming and “Hooray Parade” by Barbara Joosse.
