Summer plans are underway! “Dig into Reading” is the theme for Summer Reading which is for children who have completed the first through fifth grades. The program begins on Wednesday, June 5 and continues through Wednesday, July 10 from 1-2 p.m. On Thursdays, throughout the summer, movies will be shown at 1 p.m. Our successful “Hey Kids” program will also be held again this summer. Registration for "Dig into Reading" and "Hey Kids" begins the end of May.

Have you checked out the digital magazines that are available for download through the library’s website? Exactly like the print magazine, these are full-print, full-color (including advertisements) -, with bonus interactive elements in many magazines. Readers can view the magazines on a variety of devices, and can download the magazine so that it can be enjoyed for offline reading. Over 150 titles are available with everything from your favorite reads to maybe something you’ve been wanting to check out. Check out the eDigital Magazines on our homepage.

Kyle Mills has written “Robert Ludlum’s the Utopia Experiment.” When Dresser Industries unveils the Merge, a device that is destined to revolutionize the world and make the personal computer and smart phone absolute, Covert-One operative, Colonel Jon Smith is assigned to assess its military potential. He discovers that it is only the beginning of a technology that will change the face of warfare forever, and it must be kept from America’s enemies at all cost; but in Afghanistan, murdered Afghans are found equipped with enhanced Merge technology, and all investigation is blocked by someone who seems to have access to the highest levels of the military.

Other new fiction (available in print and audio) are “The Chance” by Karen Kingsbury, “Sand Castle Bay” by Sherryl Woods, “Starting Now” by Debbie Macomber, “Summer Snow” by Stan Lynde, “Life After Life” by Jill McCorkle, “Tapestry of Fortunes” by Elizabeth Berg, and “Z: a novel of Zelda Fitzgerald” by Therese Anne Fowler. Cassandra Clare’s newest series addition is “Clockwork Princess” now available in the YA section.

New non-fiction books are “The True Secret of Writing: Connecting Life with Language” by Natalie Goldberg and “The Happiness Diet: A Nutritional Prescription for a Sharp Brain, Balanced Mood, and Lean, Energized Body” by Tyler Graham.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior titles “Out the Rear Window” by Michael Dahl, “You Can’t Come in Here” by P. J. Night and “White Fur Flying” by Patricia MacLachlan. New easy books include “Maisy Learns to Swim” by Lucy Cousins and “Flip-Flop and the Bully Frogs Gruff” by Janice Levy.
