The 1929 yearbook was the very first annual published for Lusk High School.

FORWARD
The name "Ranger" has been chosen as a term symbolic of the "Old West"--the passing of which has left in its wake the civilization and culture which we so easily accept today.

As the rangers were the pioneers of the west so are we the pioneers in the publishing of an annual. When this task is completed may each member of the staff continue to walk the new and uncharted paths to fame and renown in some worthy field.

It is our hope that those who peruse these pages will find enjoyment in them, but may they also recall to mind the rangers--those pioneers who made possible the development of the West and gave us the school facilities and privileges which we, their posterity, now enjoy.

Ode to a School Building

Hail, and hail again, thou honored pile,
Here pictured white with snow,
Where thy time-honored departments
Strive learning to bestow.
Best loved among the buildings 'round,
Those brick-worn freaks that grace our town,
We look upon thee with affection,
As we gaze at thy reflection.

In the far-off days when we are back
On this familiar site;
And walk again some well-known track
Here overspread with white, -
Wilt thou still stand? Or will thy walls
Adorn the scrap heap, while new halls
Rise where thou long has stood,
Thou honored pile of brick and wood?

Lusk to Have New High School
By a vote of 270 to 84, the people of District No. 1, on Saturday, May 11, decided to float a $60,000 bond issue, for the purpose of building a new high school in Lusk, the exact location of which has not at this time been determined.

It is the plan of the Board of Education to secure a plot of ground sufficiently large to afford a good athletic field adjoining the school building. The new high school plant will have an up-to-date gymnasium, will be modern in every particular, and so constructed that additions may be made as the needs of the district demand.

We congratulate the people of the district on their progressive spirit, and their response to the demands of modern education. While the class of 1929 cannot be with you to enjoy the new high school, we are glad indeed that those to come after us will be afforded better educational opportunities through the use of more modern facilities.

DEDICATION to Ford B. Kuns, Superintendent of Schools
IN APPRECIATION OF THE LONG YEARS OF SERVICE, DURING WHICH HE HAS SO GRACIOUSLY GIVEN SO MUCH OF HIS TIME AND SO MUCH OF HIMSELF TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE HIGH STANDARDS OF LUSK HIGH SCHOOL, WE DEDICATE THIS 1929 RANGER

You are a man of the student's choice, -
Square as the square of steel.
You're as staunch and strong
As the day is long,
And a friend that we all call "real."

You're a man whom we all respect;
Yet one of the Student Band.
And when with school we are thru,
Our thoughts shall oft turn to you
From every corner of the land.
