Solon Clark Victim of Heart Attack, Was Early Pioneer

A sudden heart attack proved fatal to Solon E. Clark last Friday at his home in the Bright community. The deceased was 75 years, five months and five days of age.

Clark was one of the early day pioneers of this community, having lived in this section of the state since 1885 and in the early days of lusk took a very active part in the affairs of the community.

He had apparently been in his usual good health during recent years and although he did not come to Lusk often from his ranch, was active around the place taking care of his stock. He had gone out to the barn to look after some cattle and when he did not appear some time later a search was made for him and his lifeless body was found where he had evidently passed away suddenly from the heart attack.

Solon Erwin Clark was born in Iowa, April 2, 1886 and spent the early years of his life in that state, coming west while yet a young man to locate in this community where he continued to make his home for more than a half a century. Besides his wife, Mable Clark, two children are left to mourn his passing, Glen Clark of this city and Mrs. Autumn Anderson of Murdo, South Dakota and several grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, September 28th at the Peet Mortuary Chapel with the services in charge of Custer Lodge No. 21, I.O.O.F., Lusk, members W.G. Watt, Noble Grand; Robert Black, Vice Grand and Bennie Updike, Chaplain, performing the lat rituals of the organization of which the deceased was a member of long standing.

A mixed quartet composed of Mrs. H.J. Templeton, Mrs. Edna DeCastro, J.M. Hungate, and O.P. Harnagel sang "We'll Never Say Goodbye," and "Home Sweet Home." Casket bearers were Otis Bump, Arthur Thompson, Archie Sparks and M.P. Vollmer. Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery.
