John G. Burger, 84 Dies Wednesday

John G. Burger, 84, father of Mrs. A. L. Owens of Lusk died at the home of his daughter Wednesday, Mar. 4, from the infirmities of his advanced years.

Mr. and Mrs. Burger and their family homesteaded 25 miles south of Lusk in the Rawhide Buttes community in 1914 where Mrs. Burger died, Aug. 7, 1916, and was buried in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mr. Burger was born Apr. 27, 1868 at Wurttemberg, Germany and when 14 years old came to the United States. He was married on June 17, 1890 in Washington, D. C. to Miss Margaret B. Fitzpatrick of Middletown, N.Y. Eleven children were born to them and besides his wife, five daughters and one son have previously died.

For the past few years Mr. Burger has made his home with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Owens, of this city.

Rosary services were conducted at the Peet Chapel last Thursday evening by the Rev. Father M. J. McBrien and the funeral services were held from the chapel Friday morning.

The casketbearers were all members of the Elks Lodge, of which organization Mr. Burger was a member. They were Vic Senters, Roger Cowell, Jack Melugin, Charles Blagg, Nick Kaan and Paul Heany.

Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery and he was laid to rest beside his wife.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. A. L. Owens of Lusk, Mrs. Dorothy Berendt and Mrs. Thresa Klameth of Sioux City, Ia.; Mrs. Betty Long of Denver, Colo., and one son, Otto Burger, of Grand Junction, Colo.; a sister, Mrs. Anna Keller, of Seward, Nebr., 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Among the out-of-town relatives here for the services were Mrs. Berendt and Mrs. Klameth, Otto Burger, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Keller of Seward, Nebr., and Mr. and Mrs. John Owens of Casper.
