Harvey Gerlach Killed in Air Crash Near Seattle, Wash.
Mrs. J.D. LeBar received word Wednesday of the death Sunday, August 7, of Harvey b. Gerlach, 28, former Douglas resident, just out of Seattle, Wash. The son of the late William Gerlach, he was taking a newly purchased P-40 on a test flight. The plane had difficulty is gaining altitude at the take-off and crashed.
Gerlach was employed at the Boeing Air Craft company and during the war was a member of the air force. He had just recently purchased the surplus plane in Canada.
He is survived by his wife Ruth and two daughters; three brothers Lewis, Jess and George, and one sister, Martha.
