Aged Resident of Van Tassell Dies After Short Illness
Alex McCabe, long-time resident of the Van Tassell community, passed away last Thursday evening about 7:30 o'clock, at his home six miles southwest of Van Tassell, after attaining the age of 85 years, 5 months and 14 days. He had been ill but a short time.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Catherine McCabe, and one daughter, Mrs. Andrew McMaster, also of Van Tassell.
Funeral services were held at the Catholic church of Van Tassell Saturday morning at 10:30 with Father Martin officiating. Burial was made at he local cemetery. The pallbearers were George Hulse, Carl Dallain, Mr. J. Kuester, Pearl Harding, Wesley Peterson and Harry Burnham.
Mr. McCabe was engaged in the drug store business for a number of years and his wife has been holding the position of postmistress at Van Tassell. They have been residents of this community for the past 25 years.
The arrangements were in charge of the Peet Mortuary.
OBITUARY, ALEXANDER McCABE
Alexander McCabe was born April 7, 1851, in Greenoak, Mich., where he lived on his father's farm until he was quite a young man.
While still young he taught school for a number of years then went to school and studied pharmacy, eventually becoming a registered pharmacist. He first engaged in the drug business at Webberville, Mich., later moving to Crystal, Mich., where he engaged in the drug business until 1910, at which time his health failed and he came to Van Tassell, Wyoming, where he resided until his death.
He departed from this life Thursday, September 24, 1936.
