Chas. Schroefel Loses Six-Year-Old Son
Doniphan Schroefel, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Schroefel, aged six years, two months and 26 days, passed away on Thursday, January 22 from peritonitis and tonsilitis. Funeral services were held at the Congregational church on Sunday afternoon, Rev. Johnson officiating. Some of the Boy Scouts acted as pall bearers. The little body was laid to rest in the Lusk cemetery. It is hard to give up one so young, but there is a little consolation at least in the thought that they are safe.
Was he loaned us for a short time,
'Till we knew what love could be;
Sent to earth in childish fancies
To carry our love home to Thee?
February 3, 1922
Doniphan Charles Schroefel was born on October 25, 1915, at the ranch home near Lusk and departed this life on January 19, 1922, at 2:45 p.m.
He was taken ill on Dec. 27, 1921, and remained so until the end came. At times he appeared almost well, then some other complications would set in making him feel worse and keeping on that way until the end came.
He entered the Lusk public schools Sept. 12, 1921, and enjoyed the days he spent there. He was a bright, intelligent little fellow, was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed by his father, mother and little sister, besides a host of friends and relatives who mourn his loss.
The funeral service was held at the Community Congregational church in Lusk, Jan 22, 1922, by Rev. H. W. Johnson and the remains were interred in Lusk cemetery.
CARD OF THANKS
We desire to express our sincerest thanks to all of those who extended their sympathy to us in our sad bereavement. Also many thanks for the beautiful flowers that were given.
