Delphine Mildred (Hlavac) Rejda
Delphine Mildred (Hlavac) Rejda, 88, died May 21, 2009 in Lusk, Wyo. Services were held at Pier Funeral Home, on Saturday, May 23, 2009, with interment at Lusk Cemetery.
Delphine was born Nov. 29, 1920 in Bruno, Neb., the third of 10 children born to Adolph and Elsie (Fricke) Hlavac.
She married Charles Frank Rejda in Lusk, Wyo. on July 15, 1939. Charles was the son of Charley and Emma Barbara (Bushek) Rejda of Jay Em, Wyo.
Delphine and Charles raised four children: Gene Charles; Mrs. Jack (Darlene) Dole of Kirbyville, Mo.; Steve, of Collinsville, Okla.; and Danny of Waco, Texas. Charles and Delphine ranched near Lusk, mostly on their ranch on 28 Rd, for the first 35 years of their married life. In 1974, they sold the ranch and moved to Riverton, Wyo. to be near their daughter Darlene until 1979, when they moved back to Lusk. They operated the Lusk Cold Storage with their sons, Gene and Danny for seven years, and became well known to local ranchers and out of state hunters for high quality meat processing. Delphine loved cooking and entertaining for her family and friends, was well known for her homemade breads, and enjoyed doing crafts and crocheting. But her greatest joy was taking care of and providing a home for her family.
Delphine was preceded in death by her husband Charles of 54 years, her son Gene, 6 brothers and sisters, as well as her parents. In addition to her children, Darlene, Steve and Danny, she is survived by three siblings: Tom Hlavac of David City, Neb.; Orletha (Hlavac) Dvorak of Brainard, Neb. and Alvern Hlavac, of David City, Neb, plus nine grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorials in honor of Delphine to be sent to the Niobrara Health & Life Center or the Niobrara County Ambulance Fund.
